Brunswick Private Hospital’s six private room specialist unit has the capacity to cater for patients requiring the full spectrum of a modern palliative care service.

Patients are admitted to us for various reasons, including symptom control, pain management and end of life care.

Our multi-disciplinary team of medical, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, psychology, dietetics, pastoral care and speech therapy works with you to meet your physical, psychological, social, spiritual and cultural needs and also helps your family and carers. We are committed to improving the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problems associated with life-threatening illness.

Brunswick Private Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit:

  • Provides relief from pain and other distressing symptoms;
  • Affirms life and regards dying as a normal process;
  • Offers a support system to help patients live as actively as possible until death;
  • Offers a support system to help the family cope during the patients illness;
  • Uses a multi-disciplinary team approach to address the needs of patients and their families;
  • Enhances the patients quality of life, and positively influences the course of their illness;
  • Introduces palliative care early in the course of our patient’s illness, in conjunction with other therapies that are intended to prolong life, such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy, and includes those investigations needed to better understand and manage distressing clinical complications.
